Discover the benefits of LED technology in the rail industry, including how LEDs can help companies reduce carbon footprint and adhere to green targets
With energy costs rising and pressure on reducing carbon emissions increasing, companies are now looking for hybrid solutions. LED lighting is becoming one of the most popular and sustainable measures taken by businesses and the public sector today.
Benefits of LED Technology
Many businesses are now future planning ‘green initiatives’, LEDs can benefit companies across the rail industry. LEDs help companies to reduce their carbon footprint and adhere to their green targets. Using LED solutions also represent additional benefits, including: cost reduction and low maintenance, whilst also providing an attractive solution for the general public.
Alongside it’s environmental benefits, LED lamps are much more efficient, they last 43% longer than their incandescent predecessors which means they don’t need to be replaced as often. This efficient solution cuts down on cost for replacements and maintenance time for fitting the lamps.
As an LED lamp’s life comes to an end, the product fails gradually rather than instantly. The use of LED lighting means that instant failures could be a thing of the past, saving suppliers money.
In a recent survey conducted by C2C, it was reported that by introducing LED, it has the potential of reducing energy consumption by 33%. LED is rated as the number one top technology by the Carbon Trust for CT funding.
C2C’s recent study also found that LED lighting has: 80% reduction in connected load, 60% increase in lux level with a lower wattage fitting due to increased lumens/watt, 84% uplift in energy savings over a 7-day period (8.5 burn hours) and reduces glare.
It is fast becoming one of the best sustainability measures taken by businesses and the public sector to achieve their commitments to contribute towards global climate goals over the next decade.
