Mersen strengthens its position in the chemicals market with the acquisition of GAB Neumann

Mersen, a global expert in electrical power and advanced materials, has recently announced the acquisition of GAB Neumann GmbH, a specialist in the design, manufacture and sale of graphite and silicon carbide (SiC) heat exchangers for the chemicals market.

The new acquisition will enable Mersen to strengthen its position within the chemicals market in Germany, particularly in the replacement segment, providing customers with an enhanced offer of products and services.

GAB Neumann is a family-owned company based in Maulberg, South West Germany with 45 employees and was founded in 1965. The company will join Mersen’s Advanced Materials segment and will contribute around €10 million to annual Group sales.

The transaction is subject to approval of the German anti-trust authorities and is expected to be finalised in early 2020.
