Surge Arresters
Protective devices for limiting voltage
A surge arrester is a protective device for limiting voltage on equipment by discharging or bypassing surge current. Surge arresters protect other electrical equipment by discharging surge currents caused by external or internal forces. Surge arresters limit overvoltages often caused by lightning or switching surges that can occur when operating conditions suddenly change. An arrester does not absorb or stop lightning, it diverts it and limits the voltage going through the device, protecting the equipment installed in parallel.
Enerdoor Surge Arresters
Enerdoor’s surge arrester series has been specifically designed to offer surge protection for electrical equipment. Surge arresters are installed at the front end of a system for the purpose of diverting harmful overvoltage transients caused by external (lightning) or internal (switching) events to ground safely.
Also known as Surge Protection Device (SPD), or Transient Voltage Surge Suppressor (TVSS), Enerdoor surge arresters protect against electrical transients resulting from lightning strikes that find their way onto electrical conductors.
Enerdoor provides a range of nine types of Surge Arresters: SM, BG (G) 25, BG (G) 50, BM (G) 12.5, EMG (G) 20, EMG (G) 40, EMG (G) 60, FINPR and FINPRS.
