Helping customers resolve component supply issues
How do your electronic component solutions help purchasers manage supply chain shortages?
Through our authorised distribution network, we provide a continuous source of supply of both active components, to solve supply chain disruption and end-of-life electronic components to meet customers’ long term needs.
We have over 170,000 components in stock, on our shelves ready for immediate dispatch. With a small, hands-on and dedicated sales team, we aim to meet purchasers’ needs face-to-face, over the phone or via our website anytime, anywhere.
How can purchasers access active stock and is this the full list?
Customers can access our live stock list through our website or by calling our sales team. We give customers direct access to our inventory levels as we understand how precious time is when sourcing components during shortages, or a product that’s harder to find or lead times are pushed out, we know every second counts. Customers are able to quickly identify and obtain product risk-free rather than being tempted to procure products outside of authorised channels.
How does GD Rectifiers support on-going products needs after EOL?
GD Rectifiers works closely with OEMs on product availability and component obsolescence, and notifies customers immediately when product discontinuation notices are sent through from the factory.
We liaise with customers whose accounts will be affected by the EOL notice and work with them to secure a last time buy, alternative OEM products, products by another OEM or depending on the part, we often look to manufacture the obsolete components ourselves.
When a component becomes obsolete, what can GD Rectifiers offer?
GD Rectifiers works hard to find customers a modern day alternative to obsolete components. We are in a unique position as we can manufacture a number of flat based conversion kits used to replace obsolete flat based diodes and thyristors, offering a solution for customers still requiring an obsolete component.
What would be your advice to engineers shopping for hard to find components today?
Today, engineers use numerous distributors not just to shop for the best lead time but to also beat suppliers down on price.
This makes it extremely hard for distributors to secure a competitive price from the factory because once an enquiry has been sent through to the factory numerous times, the OEM becomes less likely to offer supported pricing because they know the demand for the part is high.
Where possible, it is also beneficial for customers to use a one-stop-shop distributor for all of their requirements, the more components ordered at any one time from the same distributor, the more likely they are to be be able to do something on price.
And above all else, find a distributor you trust and can rely on, at a time when demand is high and lead times are pushed out, you require exceptional customer service from your distributor to ensure you get your components at the right time and at the right price.
GD Rectifiers is an authorised distributor for over 30 of the world’s leading electronic component brands, including IXYS, Littelfuse, Westcode, Dynex, Semikron, Electronic Devices Inc., Enerdoor, Ocram Power Electronics, Mersen and Bussmann.
