May 2013 – IXYS release a new 3.6kV 630A Dual Isolated Base Rectifier Modules

IXYS UK Westcode Ltd has added a new higher voltage rectifier diode to the dual isolated base module product portfolio. The diodes, rated at up to 3600 volt, are encapsulated in the industry standard 5.87 inch (149mm) x  2.36 inch (60mm) base plate housing.

The diodes have an average current rating of 632 Amperes for a case temperature of 85 degrees centigrade and have a peak surge rating of 13 kilo Amperes. Junction to case thermal resistance for each diode is 0.062 kelvins per watt. The diode die are fused to a metal disc for optimum thermal performance with a copper base plate and an all pressure contact construction for maximum reliability and ruggedness.

The new diode modules extend the maximum voltage rating offered in this outline by IXYS UK and represent an excellent complement to the 3.6kV thyristor and thyristor/diode dual modules already available from IXYS UK in this package size.

The modules are available in two voltage classes, 3kV and 3.6kV, and three different configurations: MDD (half bridge), MDA (common anode) and MDK (common cathode). Nomenclature is as standard for this product group from IXYS UK: Half bridge 3kV MDD630-30N2 & 3.6kV MDD630-36N2, Common anode 3kV MDA630-30N2 & 3.6kV MDA630-36N2 and Common cathode 3kV MDK630-30N2 & 3.6kV MDK630-36N2.

Devices are suitable for all rectifier diode applications requiring this current & voltage rating.
